I might be the luckiest person on the planet. I live and work in the California desert, and am charged with protecting one the last living landscapes in the lower 48. My work includes policy, legislation, community building, organizing, learning from the land and the people that live here, and storytelling. I have formerly worked in the private sector managing offices for an environmental services firm, and spent time learning and building character as a wildlife biologist, primarily doing reptile and amphibian work, in the medicine lands of the American Southeast.

I am a self-taught wildlife photographer who has persisted through stubbornness and a deep affection for the many beautiful shapes of the natural world. Wildlife photography is idyllic masochism. Kidding aside, my goal is to provide others the opportunities and resources to come to know these places and species and connections for themselves on their own terms.
