Sadie Quarrier is a Senior Photo Editor at National Geographic magazine where she is responsible for producing, managing, and editing 20+ stories a year on multiple platforms including print, digital and social. Sadie collaborates with a talented group of photographers and filmmakers on a diverse range of topics from conservation/environment, wildlife, indigenous cultures, and adventure/exploration.


In 2017 she was awarded 2nd prize for Visual Editor of the Year by Pictures of the Year International, and she has won over a dozen other editing awards.


Sadie started her career in the Photo and Design Departments at National Geographic Magazine in 1992. She later became a Photo Editor/Designer at Smithsonian Magazine followed by a Photo Editor for National Geographic Books before returning to the Magazine as a Photo Editor in 2002.


She recently took a one month leave of absence to complete an intensive documentary film class at Maine Media Workshops + College to expand her skills in video shooting, producing and editing. She also completed a Knight Digital Media Center Multimedia Reporting Fellowship at the University of Berkeley. 


Sadie has had the opportunity to co-lead National Geographic Photo Camps in Cuba, Qatar, India, Costa Rica, and on the Arizona/Mexico border. She's also travelled on assignment to Nepal (Everest Base Camp and eastern Nepal for a Honey Hunter story), Australia (Monsoon story), Grand Canyon and most recently, Antarctica (story scout trip).
