Photojournalist Sergio Pitamitz has French and Italian double citizenship. For over two decades he has documented wildlife and environmental issues, focusing in particular on African wildlife, big cats and Polar regions. He is a contributor of the Italian edition of National Geographic Magazine and his work has been featured in leading magazines such as BBC Wildlife, Geo Magazine, Terre Sauvage, National Geographic website, as well as other National Geographic publications. He won the NPPA - National Press Photography Association “Best of Photojournalism 2016 - Environmental Category”. Sergio is a Swarovski Optik Brand Ambassador. He is a National Geographic Image Collection contract photographer and National Geographic Expeditions Photographer. Through his photographs and conservation stories he wants to inspire people to protect and preserve wildlife and nature. Sergio is actually focusing on documenting successful conservation and reintroduction projects.
